Seagull Artist Peppino D’Agostino Signature Guitar

This beautiful guitar was built to the exact specifications of Peppino D'Agostino, one of the finest fingerstyle guitarists in the world. The sides, neck and back are all made of solid Mahogany which produces luscious rich and deep tones. Peppino wanted the neck width at the nut to be wider than a typical acoustic to give the fingerstyle guitarist generous string spacing for ease of playing. I use this guitar specifically for fingerstyle tunes.

Taylor 214ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric

The acoustic guitars I grew up listening to in the 60’s and 70’s (some might call them vintage) were built differently than many modern guitars and had a warm tone. Many modern acoustic guitarists prefer a brighter tone, and modern guitars often have that profile. I like both the vintage and modern sounds so while my Seagull gives me the warm sound when I want it the Taylor gives me a much brighter tone which give me a lot of flexibility in the kinds of tunes I can play. In addition, the neck is narrow and sleek, almost like an electric guitar which allows me to play faster so I can play more blues and rock on the Taylor.

This guitar has what is called a Grand Auditorium body shape with a Venetian cutaway which is comfortable to play and along with a roasted spruce top and walnut back and sides it allows for a tone profile that gives clear projection while adding just a touch of warmth. Most of the time I play it through a Tonewood Amp2 which gives me the ability to very finely nuance the tone of this guitar. I can also easily play fingerstyle on the Taylor. It is a fun guitar to play!

Sterling by Music Man Cutlass Electric Guitar

Music Man is not as big a name in the music world as Fender or Gibson, but they produce excellent electric guitars. When Eddie Van Halen left Kramer guitars to look for another company to produce his first signature electric guitar (not the Frankenstrat!) he collaborated with Music Man to make the EVH Signature guitar. I play a Cutlass CT50HSS with a Poplar body. It is easy and comfortable to play and gives me distinct, bright and sustaining tones, great for blues and rock.
